Masai Ocean Racing is a sporting company with a dream of achieving something never before accomplished in Belgium: becoming the first 12-metre boat to complete a solo, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world voyage. To make the boat fully reliable ahead of the next Global Solo Challenge 2027, skipper Jérôme Delire will head west with the Caribbean Flyby: an extreme adventure between Europe and the Caribbean!

Jérôme Delire and Caroline Dieu, the Belgian couple competing in the Transat Café L’Or Le Havre Normandie 2025, were forced to retire in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Retirement does not erase the adventure. On the contrary, it reveals its true nature: a beautiful, powerful and deeply demanding journey. Extreme training ahead of the Global Solo Challenge 2027!
Next winter, our team is preparing far more than a simple ocean crossing: an extreme training challenge in real conditions, designed as a full-scale rehearsal before the Global Solo Challenge.
Scheduled for November 2026, this challenge consists of a solo round trip between Europe and the Caribbean, covering nearly 8,000 nautical miles non-stop and without assistance. It will be a demanding adventure, where every mile counts and where skipper Jérôme Delire will face the raw reality of solo ocean sailing.
For several weeks at sea, this extreme passage will put to the test the physical endurance, mental resilience and technical mastery required to take on a solo round-the-world race. Sleep management, weather strategy, boat reliability, repairs at sea, solitude: all the key elements of a round-the-world race will be brought together.
This project is part of a rigorous and progressive preparation process, with one clear objective: to arrive on the start line of the Global Solo Challenge fully ready, confident and sharp. Our Caribbean Flyby will be a full-scale laboratory, a key milestone to push the limits, validate technical choices and strengthen offshore experience.
